As the market need for software testing certification grows, there has been significant demand for a more international focus on this qualification. ISEB and the ANZTB have been instrumental in supporting a new international qualification scheme.

The International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) has been set up to bring together testers from around the world to work on one set of terminology and syllabuses with a view to allow certification in Software Testing to be internationally recognised and coordinated.

The idea and proposal for the ISTQB stemmed from the original ISEB view of Software Testing and the need for an international Software Testing Qualification.

It is the ISTQB’s role to support a single, universally accepted, international qualification scheme, aimed at software and system testing professionals, by providing the core syllabuses and allowing exam boards such as ISEB to provide the certification.

Gaining the ISTQB Certified Tester certification is done via examinations aligned to the syllabuses that are created in this international forum.

The original ISEB Foundation examination and syllabus is the basis for the ISTQB Foundation syllabus. ISEB continues to provide examinations that lead candidates to gain ISEB certification, recognised and highly valued in the world-wide Software Testing Market place.

Where have the ISTQB examinations been taken?

In over 42 countries worldwide.

The contents of each syllabus are taught as courses by training providers, which have been accredited by national boards.

They are globally marketed under the brand name “ISTQB Certified Tester”. Each course is concluded by an examination covering the contents of the syllabus. After the examination, each successful participant receives the “ISTQB Certified Tester” certificate (or the local variant with the added “ISTQB compliant” logo).

The accreditation process and certification are regulated by accreditation and certification regulations of the national boards in their various valid versions.

“…awesome material for quick reference in a pressured corporate environment. The trainer’s patience to listen and answer all stupid questions… was greatly appreciated.

This course is an absolute investment for your future.”
